WhatsApp is testing a new privacy feature called 'After Reading'. In this, after reading the message, it will be automatically deleted in 5 minutes, 1 hour or 12 hours. The countdown starts when the message is read, not when sent.
California: The world's most popular messaging app WhatsApp is testing a new privacy feature for its iOS and Android users. The specialty of this feature is that after some time of reading the message, it will be automatically deleted. In the current 'Disappearing Message' feature, the countdown starts as soon as the message is sent. But in this new feature, when the recipient of the message opens it, time will count.

What is the new feature of WhatsApp?
According to the report of WABetaInfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp, this feature was first available to some TestFlight users on iOS beta version 26.19.10.72. This 2.26.19.11 beta version was given to users on Android for testing. According to the report, some users of the App Store version may also get this feature as a test. The name of this new option is 'After Reading', which will be found in the disappearing message settings. Users can choose any time limit after reading the message from 5 minutes, 1 hour or 12 hours. If the receiver does not open the message, it will be automatically deleted after 24 hours.
In the current disappearing message system of WhatsApp, time limits of 24 hours, 7 days and 90 days are available. The report says that the new 'After Reading' feature will work with it as well. Users can activate this system for any one chat or all new chats.
You have to set the feature yourself
The report clearly states that this feature will not work automatically, users will have to set it themselves. This will not affect existing chats. The sender's message will be deleted as per the set time, but the countdown will start for the recipient only when he reads the message.
This new feature is being seen as an attempt to further strengthen the privacy and security of WhatsApp. However, the company has not yet told when this feature will come to all users. But hopefully more beta users will start getting it in the coming weeks.
