The dream of a capital region being built keeping Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, at the center is now slowly taking the form of reality. Modern transport system is being developed in this large area connecting cities like Lucknow, Unnao, Barabanki, Sitapur, Hardoi and Rae Bareli. Under this, a proposal for a high-speed Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project connecting Kanpur, Unnao, Lucknow and Ayodhya has been prepared. Details on this proposal were given in Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) on 14 May. With the completion of this project, the picture of the entire area is going to change.
Kanpur-Ayodhya in just 90 minutes
This high-speed rapid rail corridor will be a total of 187 kilometers long. It will start from Nayaganj in Kanpur and go to Ayodhya via Unnao, Lucknow, Rae Bareli. Travel time will be very short, it will take only 90 minutes to reach Ayodhya from Kanpur. A total of 12 stations will be built on this entire route. The names of these 12 stations are: Nayaganj, Unnao, Bashiratganj, Nawabganj, Banthra, Amausi, Sushant Golf City, Juggaur, Bareil, Safdarganj, Bhitaria and Ayodhya.
Development will take place in two phases
The project will be completed in two phases.
First phase: About 67 km long stretch from Nayaganj to Amausi will be developed with Namo Bharat trains.
Second phase: The remaining portion from Amausi to Ayodhya will be connected.
Big investment of Rs 32 thousand crores
A total of Rs 32 thousand crore will be spent on this ambitious project. NCRTC and Uttar Pradesh government will jointly implement it.
Not just fast travel, a new engine of economic growth
This project is not limited only to rapidly moving people from one city to another. Its main objective is to give new impetus to industrial, economic and tourism activities in the entire capital region. Lakhs of people who come to Lucknow, Kanpur, Ayodhya and surrounding areas every day for work, business, studies or tourism will get a huge relief.

Juggaur – Institutional District
Sushant Golf City – Premium Neighborhood
Nayaganj and Banthra – Logistics District (Freight Hub)
Amausi – Aero-Hub District
Nawabganj and Ayodhya – Tourism Hub
Safdarganj – Agro based industrial area
Lucknow will become the biggest interchange
Lucknow will be developed as the largest regional interchange in this entire system. From here, connectivity to Kanpur, Barabanki and Ayodhya will become very fast and easy. People traveling for job, business, education and religious tourism will benefit a lot. In the meeting held on May 14 under the chairmanship of LDA Vice President Prathamesh Kumar, AECOM Company gave detailed information. The Vice President also gave additional suggestions on multi-modal connectivity (i.e. interlinking of bus, metro, rail etc.) and better development of areas around stations.
