Lucknow Super Giants pacer Akash Singh became the talking point, in Match 59 of IPL 2026 vs Chennai Super Kings at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. The left-arm pacer didn’t just get key wickets… he also celebrated in a very particular way , and honestly it grabbed everyone’s focus, even before people could fully process it.
Akash Singh got his first wicket of the season pretty early, when he sent back CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad in the fourth over. That ball was short of a length, pretty much around off stump, and it hurried onto Gaikwad. He went for a pull shot but misread the timing a bit, and it came out wrong. The ball then went high towards mid-on, and Nicholas Pooran finished the job with a clean catch.

And the thing is, the moment Akash got that wicket he didn’t do the usual thing , not right away. He pulled out a handwritten note and held it up, showing it around the ground like he was sharing something important. Fans were like , wait what is this… and players too, it felt emotional and kinda personal, so the entire moment landed a bit deeper for a young pacer.

Akash Singh Removes Samson Too
Akash Singh kept the momentum going, dismissing Sanju Samson as well. Samson tried to flick a short ball off his hips but couldn’t keep it down, and it didn’t end up where he wanted. Mukul Choudhary took the catch in the deep, giving Akash his second wicket in the match.
After getting Samson out, Akash again brought out that same handwritten note during his celebration. The repetition made people curious about what exactly was written on the paper. It was Akash Singh’s first appearance in IPL 2026 and he made it stick , with both his bowling and that unusual celebration style.
Gaikwad and Samson getting out early pushed CSK into a tough zone. LSG’s accurate lengths and calm control helped them take charge during the powerplay overs, like they were steering the match from the start.
CSK Struggle After Early Wickets
Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant won the toss, and chose to bowl first. Chennai Super Kings had a rough start, because wickets kept falling regularly within the first eight overs.
At 52/3 in 7.2 overs, Sanju Samson was the top scorer with 20 runs off 20 balls, including three boundaries, before he eventually got out to Akash Singh. Ruturaj Gaikwad made 13 from 9 balls with two fours, while Urvil Patel scored 6 before also falling. Kartik Sharma stayed unbeaten on 9, and Dewald Brevis had just reached the crease.
Akash Singh ended up as the standout for LSG, taking three wickets for 17 runs in 3.2 overs. Mohammed Shami conceded 18 runs in his two overs , while Prince Yadav and Mayank Yadav kept it tight from the other end, making it hard for CSK to breathe.
