The International Cricket Council has given a big blow to the Pakistan cricket team. The Council has deducted eight points from Pakistan’s total World Test Championship points for maintaining a slow over rate in the first Test match played against Bangladesh. Along with this, a fine of forty percent of their match fee has also been imposed on all the players of the team. This news is even more disappointing for Pakistan because the team has already lost the first test match by 104 runs.
Bangladesh played brilliantly and left Pakistan behind in every department. After this defeat, Pakistan’s situation was already under pressure, and now this strict action of the Council has increased its problems further. In the statement issued by the council, it was said that even after taking into account the scheduled time and allowed extra time, Pakistan team could bowl eight overs less. According to the rules of cricket, this is considered a serious disciplinary mistake. For this reason, both points deduction and financial penalty were imposed on the team.
Pakistan playing second test from 15th May
This decision was given by match referee Jeff Crowe. This action was taken under Article 2.22 of the council’s code of conduct, which applies to matters to slow over rates. Pakistan captain Shan Masood accepted his mistake, so there was no need for a formal hearing. Now Pakistan team will try to make a comeback in the second test match of the series. This match will be played at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium from 15th May.
What number is Pakistan in the WTC points table?
Pakistan is currently at seventh position in the points table of the World Test Championship. The team has scored only four points in three matches with one win and two losses. On the other hand, Bangladesh is at sixth position with sixteen points. Taking advantage of home conditions, Bangladesh will try to register a second win and further strengthen its position. This incident shows that in cricket, not only good play but discipline and proper time management are equally important.
