Lucknow Super Giants will lock horns with Chennai Super Kings in the Match 59 of IPL 2026 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. The two teams enter the match with distinctly contrasting situations in the tournament. While CSK remain firmly in contention for a playoff spot and a win would take them to the top four, LSG are already out of the running and will aim to end their season strongly at home. The Chennai outfit recently beat Lucknow and will hope to carry that winning momentum despite a number of injury worries in the squad.

Chennai have been plagued with a string of injuries this season. Jamie Overton is ruled out of the rest of the tournament due to a thigh problem, while MS Dhoni continues to be unavailable with a calf strain. The Chennai team now has the responsibility of their crucial league matches resting on shoulders like Sanju Samson, Dewald Brevis, Shivam Dube etc. On the other hand, LSG are already out and will have no added pressure. Rishabh Pant and Justin Langer will, though, demand an honest performance from the Lucknow team. All in all, with players fighting for spots and retentions in future, Lucknow will look to beat the Chennai team.

This pitch at the Ekana stadium is expected to help the bowlers, yet again. The red-soil pitch has thrown up quite a few low-scoring contests because of the additional bounce and grip it offers. As pointed out by Ian Bishop and Sunil Gavaskar, the pitch looks dry and you can see visible rough patches, so playing could be tricky for the batters as the game progresses. It should be useful for the pacers in the first few overs, particularly the Powerplay. However, in the last match held here, more than 400 runs were scored, so the batter who gets set on the pitch can still make it count.
