The tenure of Gram Panchayats in Uttar Pradesh is ending on 6 May. The Uttar Pradesh government has started preparations to appoint administrators in gram panchayats. Panchayati Raj Department has sent a proposal in this regard to the government. At present there are 57694 gram panchayats in the state. Panchayat elections could not be held in the state due to many reasons. The tenure of Area Panchayats will end on 19th July and the tenure of District Panchayat will end on 11th July.
According to sources, the Panchayati Raj Department has presented two options before the government. The first option was to make the chiefs the administrators. In the second option, ADO Panchayat should be made the administrator. The final decision in this matter has to be taken by the government only. It is believed that the government will take a decision in this regard from May 24 to 25. There is a possibility that the heads will be made administrators. Gram Panchayat elections will be held only after the Legislative Assembly elections.
State Election Commission will keep an eye on every booth
The State Election Commission has intensified preparations to make the Panchayat elections to be held in the state transparent and technology based. Every booth will be monitored through the control room using special technology and mobile app. This will help in preventing fake voting. During the voting, information about how many voters voted in which centre, how many women and how many men voted, at what time the first vote was cast, will be available online.
The voting percentage will be continuously updated from the state level control room. After the voting is over, the voting percentage of the entire state will be revealed. There will be a special app for Panchayat elections on the mobile of every polling worker. The voter list of the concerned booth will also be uploaded in it. As soon as the voter reaches the polling station and enters the last four digits of his State Voter Number, his complete details and photo will appear on the screen. Voting data will be updated after identity is verified. If a person goes to vote again at another place, the system will immediately alert.
