'I compared two no-rinse patio cleaners - my favourite is less than £10'

Anyone with a garden patio will know that they aren't always the easiest to keep clean. Algae, dirt, moss and watermarks can all stain the wood or paving stones, which isn't ideal for the upcoming summer months.

Now is the perfect time to get outside and give your patio a good clean, and there are plenty of products on the market to choose from. However, there's no need to invest in a pricey pressure washer. One gardening enthusiast has compared two no-rinse patio cleaners to see what worked best, and the winner was very affordable.

TikToker Jade Doutch, in an attempt to give her patio a new lease of life, decided to try out two different patio cleaners and compare the results.

She said: "I bought two of the highest rated no-rinse patio cleaners to see if they worked. Do they do exactly what they say on the bottle?"

She split her patio down the middle and tried out a different type of cleaner on each side. Jade began with 2.5L Patio Magic Mould and Algae cleaner, which you can pick up for £9.99 from The Range. She mixed it in a four-to-one ratio with water, just as the bottle suggested, then used a watering can to pour it all over one half of the patio.

Then, on the other half, she tried out the Jarders Spray and Leave cleaner. Jade said: "This is a five to one ratio and actually worked out around the same cost."

Buying a bottle is slightly pricier, but you do get more in the 5L container, and it's priced at £16.95 from the official Jarders website.

Jade then left both sides of the patio to dry for 48 hours, then went back to see the results. She explained they both worked as well as each other, and a lot of the green stains were gone - but they still needed a bit more work, so she decided to bring out the jet washer.

Jade acknowledged that using the jetwasher 'defeated the purpose' of using a no-rinse cleaner. However, she noted that jet washing the patio after using the cleaners only took her less than an hour, whereas normally it would take her 'a whole afternoon'.

She said: "My honest opinion - yes it does work, yes I would recommend it, but my favourite was the Patio Magic."

People in the comments agreed that Patio Magic was a great product, with other people recommending other options.

One said: "Patio magic should be left for at least a week before power washing. It's on the label, the longer it's there the better and kinder lasting it is."

Another wrote: "I love patio magic but find it goes further if you sweep with a soft brush and use a paintbrush for ornaments and fencing."

And a third suggested: "Spear and Jackson from home bargains works brilliantly."
