Virat Kohli: Indian cricket's legendary batsman Virat Kohli has openly expressed his views on this decision for the first time, a year after his retirement from Test cricket. Virat Kohli played his last Test match against Australia in January 2025. After this, in May 2025, he suddenly said goodbye to Test cricket. His performance on the Australia tour was average, where he scored a century in the Perth Test, but overall could score only 190 runs in 9 innings. Then in the return match for Delhi in Ranji Trophy also, he was out for just 6 runs.
So why did you leave test cricket?
While talking to Mayanti Langar in RCB's podcast, Kohli indicated that he took this decision due to the compulsion of the management and selectors to prove his value. Kohli said, 'My view is very clear. If I can add value to the environment I'm a part of and the environment feels like it, then I'll stay there. But if I am asked to prove my value and worth, I cannot remain in that position.
