An important six-wicket victory over Punjab Kings in the IPL 2026 ensured an emotional occasion for the Mumbai Indians franchise as it bid farewell to one of its most esteemed members. Former India cricketer Robin Singh officially confirmed his departure from the MI franchise after an illustrious journey spanning over a decade.
The five-time IPL champions sealed their victory over Punjab Kings after chasing a total of 201 at Dharamsala in a thriller run chase. MI lost a few important wickets including the likes of Ryan Rickelton, Rohit Sharma but a stellar 75 off just 33 balls by Tilak Varma under interim captain Jasprit Bumrah guided the team home.
Just hours after MI's victory Robin Singh shared a social media post announcing his formal separation from the franchise.
Robin Singh posted on X:
"I'd like to share that I have officially parted ways with the Mumbai Indians. Although I have not been part of their IPL staff since 2022 , as of this year also with their team in the Emirates league. Thank you to the entire MI family and the fans for the support through this remarkable journey of mine since 2010 !!! Wishing the franchise Good luck in the years ahead,"

Robin Singh's Long Journey With Mumbai Indians
Robin Singh was considered one of the most valued members of the Mumbai Indians support staff. He joined the MI franchise back in 2010 and played a pivotal role in building one of the most successful sides in IPL history.
The former India all-rounder was an integral part of all five of Mumbai Indians' IPL title victories which came in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020. During their first title-winning campaign in 2013, he was a part of the coaching unit led by the likes of John Wright and Anil Kumble. Later on, he was primarily the team's batting coach and mentor.
Robin Singh continued his journey with the IPL franchise until 2022, following which he then switched to MI Emirates in the ILT20 league, and also became its head coach.
MI Keep Season Alive With Big Win
While Mumbai Indians are already out of the race for IPL 2026 playoff, they managed to put up a strong fight towards the end of the league stage. Jasprit Bumrah led the MI team in the absence of Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav and also guided them to their fourth win of the season.
Meanwhile, the loss puts the Punjab Kings under immense pressure following their fifth consecutive defeat of the season. While PBKS had a bright start with six wins and one no result, they are now looking set to miss out on a playoff spot.
The Mumbai Indians next play Kolkata Knight Riders and will finish their league campaign against Rajasthan Royals.
