National Highway i.e. NH-30 is going to be developed into a four-lane corridor from Jabalpur to Chilpi. The process of DPR of this ambitious project is being worked on at a fast pace. This will improve the connectivity of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Let us tell you that this project is an important part of Prayagraj Jabalpur Raipur Corridor.

This 160 km long route currently has 2 lanes. After its development the traffic pressure will reduce. The needs of heavy goods transport and future regional development will be better met.

Work going on on DPR process

Regarding this project, Project Director PIU Jabalpur, NHAI Amritlal Sahu said that the DPR process has been started and a target has been set to complete it by March 2027. Along with this, the proposal to wildlife conservation is also being worked on parallelly so that there is no delay in the implementation of the project. Special focus will be given to road safety in this project. Solutions will be ensured by identifying all the black spots so that road accidents can be reduced.

Big relief to drivers

From Jabalpur to Raipur, this route is used as a major connectivity route for regional and interstate traffic. Due to traffic pressure and movement of heavy goods vehicles here, the road is bearing more load than its capacity. The speed of vehicles is affected due to narrow roads and limited overtaking space. Commuters often have to face long traffic jams and inconvenience. The sharp turns and difficult topography in the hilly areas like Nag Ghat, Bhawal Ghat and Chilpi Ghat make the journey something important. Modern engineering based road reconstruction work will be done in these areas. This will increase the capacity of the road, making traffic more smooth and orderly.

Attention to protection of wild animals

The route of this project is also passing through sensitive wildlife area like Kanha Tiger Reserve. In view of this, special structural provisions will be made for the protection of wild animals. Care will be taken to ensure that the natural activities of wildlife are not affected. Keeping in view the safety, work will also be done on special animal underpass wildlife crossing and safe passage structures. Safety signs, warning indicators and red table top marking will be installed in sensitive forest areas to alert drivers about these areas. This project will also strengthen the connectivity from Jabalpur to Kanha Tiger Reserve which will give impetus to tourism.

Priority to environmental protection

Special importance will be given to environmental protection in the development of the project. While preparing the DPR, it is being ensured that along with the road development work, environmental balance and conservation of natural resources can also be done equally. In this train, priority will be given to conservation and transplantation of more and more trees so that the affected trees can be relocated to safe places in a scientific manner. Apart from this, scientific drainage management on environment friendly construction techniques will be included in the project.

New identity for the development of Central India

This project of development of NH 30 will develop as an economic and logistics lifeline for Central India by establishing better connectivity with Jabalpur Ring Road Raipur Visakhapatnam Corridor. It will strengthen the inter-state connectivity of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh by connecting industrial areas, logistics hubs and agricultural markets through an integrated network. This highway will work to give new impetus to regional development, employment generation, investment and industrial expansion. Through this, transportation will be faster, safer and seamless.
