Petrol-Diesel Prices Hike : Amidst the tension in West Asia, the common man of India has faced a big blow of inflation. The prices of petrol and diesel in the country have increased by Rs 3 each per litre. The new prices have come into effect from Friday (15 May 2026). Meanwhile, all the opposition leaders including Congress MP Rahul Gandhi have targeted the Modi government over the increase in the prices of petrol and diesel.

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi on Friday reacted to the increase in the prices of petrol and diesel. He wrote in X Post, “Modi government’s mistake, the public will pay the price. The shock of ₹3 has already come, the rest will be recovered in instalments.” Earlier, Rahul had claimed that the prices of petrol and diesel would increase after the completion of elections in five states. He wrote in an ex post on 28th April- “Election relief is over, heat of inflation is ready! Watch after 29th April – petrol, dieseleverything will be expensive. When oil was cheap, the Modi government kept its profits. Now it is expensive, so it will put the burden on you. “Government looting the cheap – people are just getting hit by inflation.”
Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh wrote, “Modi fears that if he buys gas from Russia, Trump will give him a dot. Has India lost its independence? The country is struggling with the oil and gas crisis, inflation is continuously increasing, but Modi ji is so afraid of Trump that he does not have the courage to buy gas from Russia.”
