Messages will disappear as soon as the chat ends

According to the statement issued by Meta, the new incognito mode will give users the option of temporary and private AI chat. Conversations in this mode will be processed in a secure environment and even Meta will not be able to access these messages.

According to the company, chats in this mode will not be saved by default and the messages will automatically disappear as soon as the session ends. Users will only be able to have text-based conversations, while the facility to upload or generate images will not be available.

Concern had increased regarding sensitive data

Amidst the rapidly increasing use of generative AI technology, questions are continuously being raised regarding privacy. Users often share personal financial information, health questions, workplace data, and personal conversations with chatbots.

Will Cathcart, WhatsApp head of Meta Platforms, said that users should not feel compelled to reveal their personal information when interacting with AI. This new feature has been prepared under this thinking.

AI will not answer harmful questions

The company said that many security features have also been added to Incognito Mode. The chatbot will refuse to answer questions that fall in the harmful or sensitive category. It will direct users to safe and useful information when needed.

The system may also shut down the conversation if a user repeatedly asks inappropriate or dangerous questions.

Competing with Google Gemini and ChatGPT

Competition among AI companies regarding privacy is continuously increasing. Google Gemini already gives the option to turn off chat history and keep the data separate from AI training. Whereas in ChatGPT also, users get features to data control and chat management.

Now WhatsApp’s new incognito mode is being considered a big step towards making AI chatting more private and secure.
