People often bring jade plants from nurseries and keep them indoors, but within a few days, the leaves begin to fall off and the plant begins to dry out. Gardening expert Shrishti has shared a simple, zero-budget method for making this plant dense and vibrant.
In Hinduism and Vastu Shastra, the Crassula, or Jade plant, is considered highly auspicious. It's also known as the "wealth plant" or "Goddess Lakshmi's favorite plant." It's believed that a home that keeps this plant green and healthy is blessed with happiness and prosperity. But did you know that a small mistake can cause this auspicious plant to die?
Gardening expert Shrishti says that treating the Jade plant as an indoor plant and keeping it in a dark room is detrimental to its health. This plant requires sunlight and nutrition to grow thick and vibrant. She has explained the correct method for preparing and using a free water solution .
According to gardening expert Shrishti , the biggest mistake made with a jade plant is keeping it entirely indoors. Many people keep it in the shade, which causes its branches to become thin and long and its leaves to shrink. The jade plant is a succulent that loves sunlight. Place it where it receives at least 4-5 hours of good sunlight daily.
Which free solution will work?To keep your jade you don't need expensive fertilizers from the market. The tea leaves in your kitchen are an excellent tonic. Tea leaves are rich in nitrogen, which helps make the leaves shiny and promote plant growth.
Easy way to make the solutionThis "free solution" is very easy to prepare. Simply take half a teaspoon of tea leaves and add it to a glass of water. Let the mixture steep for about 30 minutes to allow all the nutrients in the tea leaves to dissolve. After 30 minutes, the water will slightly change color.
The correct way to pour the solutionOnce the 30 minutes are up, there's no need to strain the tea leaves ; simply pour it directly into the jade plant's soil. Make sure to lightly loosen the potting soil before watering to ensure the nutrients reach the roots. Applying this solution once or twice a month is sufficient.
Correct watering rulesThe jade plant's leaves already retain a lot of moisture, so it doesn't need a lot of water. Water the soil only when the top layer appears completely dry. Overwatering can cause the roots to rot. Even after adding the tea leaf solution, make sure the pot doesn't become waterlogged.
Make it even denser by pinchingIf you want your jade plant to look dense like a bonsai, periodically pinch its upper leaves. When you remove the top of a branch, two new branches emerge. This allows the plant to spread out rather than shoot upwards, becoming bushier and more beautiful.
