UPSC CSE 2025 Answer Key: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the answer key for the Preliminary Examination (Prelims) of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025 on May 13. Candidates who appeared for the examination can now visit the official website to download the answer key. The Commission has stated that this marks the final instance where the answer key is being released after the entire examination process has concluded. Starting from 2026, UPSC will publish a provisional answer key on its official website immediately following the Preliminary Examination.
The UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2025 was conducted on May 25, 2025, while the Main Examination took place from August 22 to August 31, 2025. Candidates who successfully cleared the Main Examination were called for the Interview and Personality Test rounds. These interviews were held between January and April 2026. The final results were declared on March 6, 2026.
**9 Lakh Candidates Appeared for UPSC 2025 Prelims**
According to UPSC statistics, a total of 937,876 candidates applied for the Civil Services Examination 2025. Of these, 576,793 candidates appeared for the Preliminary Examination. A total of 14,161 candidates cleared the Prelims and qualified for the Main Examination. Subsequently, 2,736 candidates advanced to the Personality Test stage.
**Recruitment Conducted for a Total of 958 Vacancies**
In the final selection list, the Commission recommended the appointment of a total of 958 candidates, comprising 659 men and 299 women. These candidates have been selected for positions in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), as well as Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ posts within the Central Services.
**UPSC 2026 Prelims on May 24**
The Preliminary Examination for UPSC CSE 2026 is scheduled to be held on May 24, 2026. This year, recruitment will be conducted for over 900 posts. Candidates who secure marks above the cut-off in the preliminary examination will be eligible to apply for the main examination. The main examination will be descriptive in nature and will be held in August.
