A devastating incident occurred late at night on the Chotila-Rajkot National Highway in Gujarat. A private luxury bus traveling from Ahmedabad to Rajkot collided violently with a tanker loaded with asphalt, resulting in both vehicles catching fire. Tragically, four passengers lost their lives in the blaze, while ten others sustained serious injuries. According to police and administrative sources, the accident took place around 1:30 AM near Sangani village. Eyewitnesses reported that the impact was so severe that the asphalt ignited almost instantly, leading to a massive fire.
Emergency Response and Casualties
Officials confirmed that at least ten individuals suffered severe burn injuries and remain in critical condition. Emergency rescue teams promptly transported the injured to nearby hospitals, where medical staff are working tirelessly to stabilize their conditions. Reports indicate that several victims are in extremely serious condition.
Police Statement on the Incident
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) S.S. Bhadauria stated that the collision occurred around 1:30 AM on the Chotila-Rajkot National Highway. The luxury bus, carrying approximately 40 passengers, collided with the asphalt-laden tanker. Many passengers were successfully evacuated from the bus following the fire.
Further Tragedy in Anand District
In a separate incident on the same day, another tragic accident occurred in Anand district, where four individuals lost their lives and five others were injured. This accident happened when a tempo they were traveling in collided with a truck on the Tarapur-Bagodara State Highway. According to Inspector Mayur Sharma from the Tarapur police station, the victims included a five-year-old child, two women, and a man, all of whom died at the scene.
