Storm and rain wreak havoc in many districts of UP, 52 people died

Lucknow, 13 May. With the formation of cyclonic conditions over western Uttar Pradesh in the lower troposphere of the atmosphere and the help of Purva coming from South Rajasthan, the result was that on Wednesday afternoon, nature wreaked havoc in the state and due to severe storm and rain in different parts, a total of 52 people had died in various accidents till the last news was received.

The storm, which moved at a speed of about 100 kilometers per hour, was such that hundreds of trees, electric poles and sign boards were uprooted in many parts of the state, due to which traffic and power supply came to a complete halt.

Maximum devastation in Purvanchal and Prayagraj division

Maximum devastation was seen in Purvanchal and Prayagraj divisions. A total of 11 people lost their lives, including 10 in Bhadohi and one elderly person in Mirzapur. Four people, including two women who had gone to worship, died when a temple wall collapsed in Bhadohi’s Aurai. At the same time, the storm that came in the evening in Prayagraj took the lives of 10 people, which included 7 people from rural areas and 3 from Pratapgarh. In Siddharthnagar also, a child died after a tin shed incident.

Series of accidents in Central UP and Ruhilkhand

The storm took the lives of 15 people in the districts of Central UP. In this, maximum eight deaths occurred in Fatehpur alone. Apart from this, three people died in Unnao, two in Hardoi and one each in Jhansi and Kanpur Dehat. The storm that hit Bareilly division of Rohilkhand at 11 am took the lives of a total of 10 people, including six in Badaun and four in Bareilly.

Condition of Awadh and Moradabad divisions

The storm also wreaked havoc in Awadh region, where two people died due to falling of trees in Sitapur and three people including a teenage girl died due to electrocution in Rae Bareli. Railway gate broke at Dalmau in Rae Bareli and a tree fell on a car in Lalganj. Two people, including a woman, died due to wall and pole collapse in Sambhal of Moradabad division, while eight people were injured in Amroha. There is a blackout situation in rural areas due to the fall of more than 250 electric poles in the division.

Transport and electricity system collapsed

Due to strong winds, the route had to be diverted due to the sign board falling on the Varanasi-Shaktinagar road. Light rain accompanied by dust storm occurred in Gorakhpur and surrounding areas. According to the Meteorological Department, this situation has arisen due to the formation of a low pressure area in the atmosphere. The Chief Minister’s Office has instructed the District Magistrates of the affected districts to speed up relief work and provide immediate assistance to the victims.

This will stop now, heat will increase

Meanwhile, according to the Meteorological Department, despite rain, there has been a rise in temperature in many parts of the state. As a result, today the temperature in Banda, Bundelkhand was recorded at 45.4 degrees. The weather is expected to remain dry in the coming days and heat wave conditions will prevail in the southern districts of the state.
