Donald Trump has reached China on a two-day official visit. This time there is a special discussion about his welcome at Beijing Airport, because Chinese President Xi Jinping himself did not reach the airport. In his place, China’s Vice President Han Zheng welcomed the US President. This development is being considered very important from the point of view of international diplomacy and protocol.

Arrangement of cultural programs to welcome Trump

According to the report, along with Han Zheng, David Perdue, China’s Ambassador to the US Zi Feng and China’s Executive Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Ma Zhaoxu were also present at the airport. China had also arranged special cultural programs to welcome Trump. Around 300 youth wearing white and blue uniforms were deployed at the airport, while a band party also became a part of the welcome ceremony.

However, the discussion intensified as to why Xi Jinping himself did not arrive at the airport to receive Trump. In fact, earlier when Trump had visited other countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Israel, the top leaders there were present at the airport. On the contrary, China sent the Vice President as per its fixed protocol.

According to reports, in China the President usually does not welcome any foreign leader at the airport. Earlier, even during the visits of leaders like Putin and Kim Jong Un, Jinping had not reached the airport. Xi Jinping was last seen going to the airport to welcome the US President in 2009, when he himself was the Vice President of China and had arrived to welcome Obama.

Trump’s visit important in many ways

This visit of Trump is being considered very important in many ways. Issues like AI technology, rare earth minerals and trade tariffs are likely to be discussed between America and China. Apart from this, talks can also be held between the two countries on the increasing tension regarding Taiwan. America considers Taiwan as its main ally, while China has been claiming it. It is believed that China’s stand on this issue may become clearer through the meeting between Trump and Jinping.
