Ajinkya Rahane, the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), shared his thoughts on the team's loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, highlighting the crucial dropped catches of Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal. He acknowledged Kohli's prowess as a dangerous batsman during a chase and commended Padikkal for his impressive form throughout the tournament. Rahane pointed out that while dropped catches were detrimental to KKR, such mistakes are part of cricket, despite the team's diligent efforts.

"Virat is known for being a formidable player while chasing. He is always a threat, and Padikkal has been in excellent form. Those dropped catches could have made a difference in our last four matches. However, these things happen. The players are putting in a lot of effort, but dropping catches is part of the game. Regarding Kartik Tyagi, he has shown great commitment and a clear mindset in his bowling, which is encouraging for the team," Rahane stated post-match.

In a thrilling match, despite KKR setting a challenging target of 193, Kohli's remarkable century (105* with 11 fours and three sixes) and Padikkal's 39 propelled RCB to a comfortable six-wicket victory with five balls to spare. KKR's chances were further hampered by dropped catches, with Kohli being missed by Rovman Powell off Tyagi's delivery, and Padikkal dropped by Vaibhav Arora off Cameron Green.

Rahane expressed that a score of 192 was indeed competitive on the Raipur pitch, praising KKR's middle-order batsmen for their solid performance. "We believed that 190 was a competitive score on that wicket. The middle-order batsmen did a commendable job. It's easy to say after the match that a few runs could have changed the outcome, but I think the batters did well," he remarked.

With this decisive win, RCB, led by Kohli's outstanding performance, has climbed to the top of the points table. KKR's four-match winning streak has come to an end, leaving their playoff chances hanging by a thread.
