Pratik Yadav passes away

Mulayam Singh Yadav’s younger son Prateek Yadav, who was Akhilesh Yadav’s step-brother, died at the age of 38. The postmortem report cited pulmonary embolism as the main cause, in which blood clots had formed in the arteries of the lungs, leading to cardio-respiratory collapse. Prateek Yadav was recently hospitalized for treatment of lung problem and blood clot.

Pulmonary Embolism Information

Pulmonary embolism is a serious condition in which blood clots that have formed in deep veins in other parts of the body (deep vein thrombosis – DVT) break off and become stuck in the arteries of the lungs. This stops the blood flow, causes lack of oxygen and puts extra pressure on the heart.

due to blood clots

According to doctors, there are three main reasons for clot formation:

1. Slowing of blood flow: Staying in bed for a long time, traveling for a long time or sitting for a long time.

2. Damage to blood vessels: The walls of the veins are damaged by surgery, injury or disease.

3. Thickening of blood: Genetic diseases, hormonal medications, cancer, obesity, smoking or chronic illness.

Other risk factors

obesity

high blood pressure

Diabetes

History of previous clot

recent surgery or fracture

prolonged immobility

symptoms

sudden shortness of breath

Severe chest pain (especially while breathing)

fast heartbeat

coughing up blood

dizziness or fainting

Swelling or pain in the legs (if DVT)

Prateek Yadav also had breathing problems and was undergoing treatment, but his condition suddenly worsened.

preventive measures

Don’t sit for too long, take a short walk every hour.

Drink plenty of water and keep your legs moving during long journeys.

Maintain a healthy weight.

Quit smoking.

Take blood thinners as directed by your doctor (if at risk).

If in doubt, contact a doctor immediately.
