The BBC has confirmed the future of television hit Amandaland. The Motherland spin-off has just returned for a second series after its debut became a ratings triumph.

The broadcaster has now revealed that Amanda (Lucy Punch) and co will return to SoHa for a third outing, consisting of six episodes. The announcement will thrill fans of the series, which launched last year.

Centring on Amanda following her marriage breakdown, it saw her move to "SoHa" - her name for South Harlesden - where she's bringing up her children with help from a fresh circle of school gate companions, while also reviving her friendship with former sidekick Anne (Philippa Dunne) and dealing with a mum (Joanna Lumley) who refuses to acknowledge she's ageing.

Meanwhile, she is also attempting to grow her online Senuous brand, while sustaining "a Chiswick lifestyle on a Harlesden budget", reports Wales Online.

Seb Barwell, BBC comedy commissioning editor, said: "Amanda and friends continue to capture the hearts of the nation, so we're delighted to announce a third series and to keep up our 'co-lab' with this amazing team."

Co-writer and creator Holly Walsh and co-writer Laurence Rickard said: "We are thrilled to be heading back to SoHa for a third series of Amandaland and delighted the show has found the sort of audience that Amanda's Instagram account could only dream of.

"We are already priming our keyboards to prompt AI into creating another batch of scripts and can't wait to be reunited with our incredible cast and crew."

Amandaland is set three years after the conclusion of Motherland, which followed hapless mum Julia (Anna Maxwell Martin) and her circle of school parent friends, with Amanda serving as her arch-rival.

The programme has garnered widespread critical praise, claiming best scripted comedy at the BAFTA Television Awards last week, while also proving a resounding hit with audiences.

It attracted an average of five million viewers over 28 days during its first series and has continued to build momentum, with its 2025 Christmas special claiming the top spot for comedy episodes that year, drawing an impressive audience of 7.4 million across 28 days.

Amandaland will air on BBC One and the BBC iPlayer
