Ministers should use metro, bus, e-rickshaw, carpooling or public transport at least once a week: CM Yogi

Lucknow. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a meeting with the Cabinet on Wednesday. During this, he gave important instructions to promote economy, energy conservation and responsible work culture. In view of the current global circumstances, in view of the appeal made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the countrymen, the Chief Minister said that fuel conservation is not just an economic necessity but a national responsibility.

Along with this, he said, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet itself should set an example and the ministers should use metro, bus, e-rickshaw, carpooling or other public transport at least one day a week. Instructions were given to reduce the vehicle fleet by 50 percent, avoid foreign trips for the next six months and encourage digital and hybrid work culture in governance.

The Chief Minister said that the functioning of governance and administration should be more disciplined, sensitive and accountable. He instructed to keep the temperature of air conditioners in the secretariat and directorates between 24 to 26 degrees Celsius, ensure maximum use of natural light and need-based electricity consumption.

Also, along with encouraging public transport, rail travel, carpooling and ‘work from home’ system, emphasis was laid on organizing more and more inter-district meetings and training programs in hybrid mode. He also called for turning solar energy, electric vehicles, PNG use and environment-friendly lifestyle into a mass movement.

In the cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister stressed on promoting local products, conservation of natural resources and self-reliant economy. He also stressed on use of PNG in place of LPG and minimum use of imported goods. The Chief Minister said that priority should be given to domestic venues in weddings and social events and products manufactured in Uttar Pradesh should be used as gifts or presents.
