Good news for the people of Bihar, government is giving 1 lakh subsidy

Patna. Bihar government has taken a big decision to promote electric vehicles in the state. ‘Bihar Electric Vehicle (Amendment) Policy 2026’ was approved in the state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary. Under the new policy, various sections including women will get the benefit of attractive subsidies and tax exemption on purchasing electric vehicles.

Women will get the biggest benefit

According to the new policy, women purchasing electric four-wheelers will be given a subsidy of up to Rs 1 lakh per vehicle. The government believes that this will make women self-reliant and promote the use of electric vehicles. At the same time, it has been decided to give an incentive amount of Rs 12,000 to women purchasing electric two-wheelers. This benefit will be given during the financial year 2026-27.

Other sections will also get help

The government has fixed incentive amount not only for women but also for other sections. People belonging to the general category will get a subsidy of Rs 10,000 on purchasing an electric two-wheeler. Beneficiaries belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe category will be given assistance up to Rs 12,000.

Apart from this, special benefits have also been announced for those purchasing electric cargo three-wheelers. The general category will get assistance up to Rs 50 thousand. People belonging to Scheduled Caste and Tribe category will be given a grant of up to Rs 60 thousand.

Relief in motor vehicle tax also

Under the new policy, all electric vehicles purchased and registered in Bihar will also be given a rebate of up to 50 percent in motor vehicle tax. With this, buying electric vehicles can become more affordable for people than before.

Big goal by 2030

According to the Transport Department, the government aims to increase the share of electric vehicles in new vehicles in the state to 30 percent by the year 2030. For this, the government is continuously implementing new schemes and incentive policies.
