Punjab News: Taking a major decision for the rehabilitation of the youth who have completed their service as Agniveer in the Army under the Agneepath Scheme, the Punjab Government has decided to prepare a reservation policy for Agniveer. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has constituted a high-level committee of senior officers of civil and police administration, which will prepare a roadmap to provide the benefit of reservation to firefighters in government services.

Youth integral part of social and economic development

While presiding over a high-level meeting here today, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann gave in-principle approval to the proposal of giving reservation to firefighters in government jobs. He said that this policy should be finalized within the stipulated time frame so that trained and disciplined youth can become an integral part of the social and economic development of Punjab.

Use of skills for the progress of Punjab

In this regard, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “There is a need to frame the reservation policy from a comprehensive perspective, so as to ensure proper rehabilitation of the returning firemen after serving the country and their skills can be utilized for the progress of Punjab.”

Reservation and recruitment recommendations ready

The Chief Minister appointed senior administrative officers of the state, Vikas Pratap, Bhavana Garg, Sumer Singh Gurjar and S.S. to prepare recommendations and finalize the outline regarding reservation and recruitment of firefighters in various departments. A committee based on Srivastava has been formed.

Services of skilled and disciplined youth

Referring to the potential of Agniveers, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that their services can be effectively utilized in Punjab Police, Forest Guard, Fire Services, Jail Department, Home Guards, PESCO and many other departments of the government. “The criteria to reservation and selection of fire fighters should be finalized as soon as possible to ensure best utilization of the services of these skilled and disciplined youth,” he said.

Honor for bravery, hard work and entrepreneurship

The Chief Minister further said that Punjab has always played a historical role in protecting the unity and integrity of the country. He said, “It is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that apart from being the country’s food provider, Punjab is also known as the sword arm of the country. The people of Punjab are respected across the world for their bravery, hard work and entrepreneurship.”

Financial assistance of one crore rupees

Referring to the incomparable contribution made by the armed forces, paramilitary forces, police and firefighters in the defense of the country, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the Punjab government is already providing financial assistance of Rs 1 crore to the families of soldiers martyred in the line of duty.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “This initiative reflects the strong commitment of the Punjab government towards the welfare of soldiers, paramilitary forces, police personnel and their families.” He expressed hope that this step will play an important role in securing the future of the firefighters and providing support to their families after serving the country.
