Kanpur. Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) will play the fourth edition of UP T-20 League from August 14 to September 6 at Greenpark Stadium in Kanpur. UP T20 League Chairman Sanjay Kapoor announced the detailed roadmap for Season 4 of the league in a press conference here on Wednesday. This time the main focus of the league will be on “Consolidation and Delivery”, through which preparations have been made to take the competition to a new level.
Six franchise teams from across the state will participate in the league. A structured retention policy has been implemented this season, under which each franchise will be able to retain a minimum of six and maximum 12 players, to maintain team balance and continuity. According to UPCA, each team will include 23 to 25 players. In this, along with the players selected from the auction, players from the local catchment area will also be given opportunities.
With an aim to promote player development, a purse of Rs 1.25 crore has been set for each team. The management said that the transfer window will be held from June 1 to June 15 and the trial window from June 1 to June 30. Identification and development of players will be ensured at the grassroots level by conducting talent search programs and trials in different areas of the state.
The broadcast rights of the league have been given to Sony this time, which is expected to further strengthen the popularity and wide reach of the competition. UPCA said that the celebrity partnership model will also be promoted in the league, through which branding and promotion will get a new direction.
After the auction, a Trophy Tour will be organized in all the franchise cities to generate excitement among the cricket fans and local spectators. T-20 Governing Council Chairman Dr. Sanjay Kapoor said that Season 4 will prove to be an important phase for the league. He said that UPCA aims to create a transparent, professional and competitive league in which franchises, players and all stakeholders move forward together.
UPCA Honorary Secretary Prem Manohar Gupta said that the UP T-20 League has provided a powerful platform to the young players of the state to showcase their talent. He said that talent development, trials and league operations will be further strengthened this season. He said that UPCA’s aim is to make UP T-20 League one of the most competitive and professional domestic T-20 leagues in the country.
