SIM Card: This is precisely why it has become crucial for every mobile user to know how many mobile numbers are active under their name and to ensure that no fraudulent SIM card is being used.

In today's times, instances of cyber fraud and online scams are rising rapidly. Often, criminals misuse another person's Aadhaar card to procure a new SIM card issued in that individual's name. The most alarming aspect is that when such a SIM is used for fraud, issuing threats, committing cybercrimes, or engaging in any illegal activity, investigative agencies invariably first track down the person in whose name the SIM is registered.

For this very reason, it has become absolutely essential for every mobile user to verify how many mobile numbers are currently active under their name and to confirm that no unauthorized or fake SIM is in use. To safeguard the public, the government has launched an online platform called the 'Sanchar Saathi Portal.' With the help of this portal, any individual can determine—within just a few minutes—exactly how many mobile numbers are currently linked to their Aadhaar card.

To do this, one simply needs to open a web browser on a mobile phone or computer and visit the Sanchar Saathi Portal website. There, you will find an option labeled 'Know Your Mobile Connections' or 'Connected Mobile Numbers.' Upon providing the necessary Aadhaar-related details and completing the OTP verification process, all the mobile numbers associated with your name will be displayed on the screen. If you spot any number in the list that you have never used, it is a strong indication that your identity may have been misused.

If an unfamiliar mobile number appears on the portal, ignoring it could have serious consequences. The very same portal also provides options to file a complaint against such fraudulent numbers and request their immediate blocking. The user is required to file a complaint against the specific number in question, following which an investigation process is initiated. If deemed necessary, users may also be required to upload supporting documents, such as their Aadhaar card and a photograph. In many instances, the suspicious number is deactivated within just a few hours. If a SIM card issued in your name is used for fraud, fake calls, bank scams, or cybercrimes, you could face significant legal trouble. During a police investigation, your name may surface, and you could be compelled to prove your innocence. Furthermore, in today's digital landscape, mobile numbers are linked to bank accounts, UPI services, and Aadhaar cards. Consequently, a SIM card falling into the wrong hands can also lead to financial losses.

Experts advise that you should make it a point to check every few months how many mobile numbers are currently active under your name. Additionally, you should refrain from sharing a copy of your Aadhaar card with strangers. When obtaining a new SIM card, it is also considered crucial to be physically present in person to ensure that your documents are not misused.

As technology advances at a rapid pace, cybercriminals are adopting increasingly sophisticated methods. In this context, verifying the SIM cards active under your name is no longer merely an option but has become an essential security measure. A few minutes of vigilance can save you from major legal and financial complications in the future.
