Alia Bhatt has raised questions on the old thinking and box office approach of the Indian film industry at the Cannes Film Festival. The actress says that even today in India, most of the films are made keeping in mind the preferences of the male audience, while the strength of the female audience is ignored.
Talking on this issue, he also gave the example of the historic success of the Hollywood film Barbie. In the conversation, Alia said that films with female audience have performed brilliantly across the world.
Citing examples like The Devil Wears Prada and Wuthering Heights, he said that stories made with women at the center can also do wonders at the box office.
Alia raised the question that when it is often said in Indian cinema that 75 percent of the audience is male, then why is the choice and participation of women underestimated.
Alia further said that films should not be limited to any one gender, but the story should be most important. He said that it should not matter whether there is a hero or a heroine in the film.
Alia attended Cannes as the global ambassador of L’Oréal Paris. On the work front, the actress will soon be seen in Love and War alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. Apart from this, his spy thriller Alpha also remains in the news.
