One of the country’s full-service law firms, Trilegal, has appointed Sandeep Ghosh as its first chief executive officer (CEO), a move that signalling the growing adoption creating non-legal leadership bandwidth by traditional law firms.

Ghosh, who most recently served as group country manager for India and South Asia at Visa, brings more than three decades of experience in global banking and financial services, consumer businesses and advisory roles.

“Trilegal is at an important point in its journey, and this is the right time to strengthen our institutional capabilities for the next phase of growth,” said Nishant Parikh and Sridhar Gorthi, partners and members of the firm’s management committee, in a joint statement. “Sandeep brings exceptional leadership experience, a strong track record of transformation, and the ability to turn strategy into action.”


An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management from Ahmedabad, Ghosh was a partner and financial services leader at EY before joining Visa. Prior to that, he also served as managing director and CEO at Bharti Axa Life and as MD of the commercial banking division for the Asia Pacific Region at ANZ. He also worked in companies including RBS, Citi and PepsiCo.

The firm’s partnership and management committee will retain strategic and governance authority, while Ghosh will lead the firm’s strategic priorities, strengthen alignment across practices and offices, build stronger client relationships, and support innovation and growth.

“The legal services industry is evolving rapidly, shaped by changing client expectations, technology, AI, and new delivery models,” said Sandeep Ghosh. “Trilegal is well-positioned to lead through this change, and I look forward to working with the partners and leadership team to support the firm’s next phase of growth.”

With 157 partners operating under a lockstep model, Trilegal is the largest equity partnership law firm in the country. The firm retains over 1,300 professionals across offices in Mumbai, Delhi, Gurugram, Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, and GIFT City.
