The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has extended the application deadline for the Assistant Statistical Officer (ASO) and Assistant Research Officer (ARO) recruitment for the year 2026. Not only has the deadline been extended, but the Commission has also increased the number of vacancies available in this recruitment drive. While the recruitment was initially planned for a smaller number of posts, it will now be conducted for a total of 1,565 vacancies. **New Vacancies Added Across Several Departments**
As per the new notification from the UPSSSC, additional posts have been added across various government departments. The highest number of vacancies continues to be within the Economics and Statistics Division, which falls under the Planning Department. Additionally, new positions have been included in departments such as Industry and Enterprise Promotion, Agriculture, Medical and Health Services, Higher Education, Animal Husbandry, and the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited. Following the addition of these new positions, the total number of vacancies has risen to 1,565. The Commission has also provided details regarding separate horizontal reservation quotas for candidates belonging to reserved categories and for candidates with disabilities within the revised notification.
**Who Can Apply?**
Candidates applying for these positions must hold a postgraduate degree in Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, Commerce, Economics, or Statistics from a recognized university. Furthermore, it is mandatory for candidates to possess knowledge of Hindi in the Devanagari script. The Commission has clarified that passing the UP PET 2024 is a mandatory prerequisite for candidates wishing to participate in this recruitment process. Additionally, preference may be given to candidates who hold a diploma in Computer Science or possess a recognized computer proficiency qualification.
**What is the Prescribed Age Limit?** According to the notification, candidates must be at least 21 years of age and not more than 40 years of age. Age will be calculated as of July 1, 2024. Candidates belonging to reserved categories will also be eligible for age relaxation in accordance with the rules of the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
**How will the selection be conducted?**
In this recruitment process, a written examination will be conducted first. Candidates who qualify in the written examination will undergo document verification. Final selection will be based on performance in the written examination and the eligibility criteria established by the Commission.
