Lifestyle Desk – The summer vacation season is going on and in such a situation, travel plans start being made in many people’s homes. Even today, the tradition of taking home-cooked food along while traveling is quite popular in Indian families. Be it train, bus or long car journey, eating home-made puri-parathas and delicious vegetables is a different pleasure. However, the biggest worry in summer is that the vegetables may spoil quickly. In such a situation, some dry and spicy vegetables prove to be a great option, which do not spoil for a long time and can be easily eaten while travelling. Let us know about those vegetables.
dry potato curry
First of all let’s talk about dry potato curry. It is considered to be the most popular option of travel food. Dry potato curry made with less gravy and more spices can easily last for 10 to 12 hours. Adding turmeric, red chilli, coriander and some dry mango powder to it further enhances the taste. Its combination with puri or paratha is very much liked.
Stuffed Ladyfinger
Stuffed Bhindi is also a great option for travelling. By stuffing Bhindi with spices and cooking it properly on low flame, it remains fresh for a long time. The special thing is that there is no water in it at all, hence the possibility of spoilage is less. Its spicy taste further increases appetite during travelling.

Cabbage
If you want to try something different, you can also take dry cabbage and pea curry along with you. If it is cooked not in less oil but with a little more oil and spices, it remains fresh for many hours. It tastes both light and tasty while travelling.
gatte vegetable
Rajasthani style Gatte ki Sabzi is also considered perfect for travelling. If gattas made from gram flour are prepared dry with spices, they do not spoil quickly. This is the reason why people in Rajasthan especially keep it with them on long journeys.

Fenugreek Potato
Apart from this, dishes like dry fenugreek potato, masala arbi and paneer bhurji can also be good options during the journey. However, one should avoid keeping Paneer curry for a long time in very hot weather.
Keep these things in mind while packing food
It is important to keep some things in mind while packing food. Pack the vegetables only after they cool completely. It is better to use steel or airtight container. Vegetables with too much gravy can spoil quickly during travel, hence choosing dry vegetables is considered safer. Fresh and delicious home-cooked food not only increases the fun of travelling, but also takes care of health. In such a situation, next time you go on a trip, do try these special vegetables.
