Fans hoping for more of ABC‘s most popular TV show this year won’t get their wishes fulfilled, unfortunately. After its Season 2 finale last month, many expected the show to return this fall. However, it’s not going to be a part of the network’s fall schedule.

High Potentiala very popular ABC TV show, will not return for the network’s 2026-2027 television midseason. The No.1 show, starring Kaitlin Olson (The Mick, Hacks), has been left on the bench, reports Deadline.

In its second year, High Potential managed to be ABC’s top series in total viewers among the 18-49 age group. It’s also the No.1 broadcast entertainment series of the season and No.3 in total multiplatform viewers.

Explaining the reason why High Potential isn’t returning this fall, Ari Goldman, SVP, Content Strategy and Scheduling said, “What we’ve seen the last several years, and we’ve really proven this out with Will Trent and The Rookie back in midseason of 24 and 25, is we want to give viewers a chance to watch these shows with as little interruption as possible across the season.”

He added, “So I think when we get to the midseason plans, and you think about the opportunities that we have on the ABC schedule, going from New Year’s Rockin’ Eve to the College Football Playoff, the Grammys, the Oscars, and obviously the Super Bowl. I think we have such amazing momentum at the start of 27 to bring the show back in a big way.”

Interestingly, ABC’s most popular TV show isn’t the only title being held until next year. Shifting Gears will also return during midseason.

Apart from Olson, High Potential also features Steve Howey, Daniel Sunjata, Javicia Leslie, Deniz Akdeniz, Amirah J, Matthew Lamb, and Judy Reyes in crucial roles.

Moreover, all episodes of the series are currently streaming on Hulu.
