GT vs SRH Toss & Playing XI, IPL 2026: Hyderabad Wins Toss and Opts to Bowl First in Match 56
Cricket Gully | May 12, 2026 10:39 PM CST

All eyes turn to Ahmedabad as Gujarat Titans lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 56 of IPL 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. With both teams firmly in contention for a top two finish this match and a victory here would see either team move top of the points table. Hyderabad are by far the most impressive team this year after stuttering at the start and will take to the field with Gujarat Titans, who are on a four game winning streak themselves. With the top sides tightening at the top the battle to finish at the very top could be decided here.

Both teams' batting strengths this year have been centered around their top two partnerships. The Gujarat Titans have received good opening stands all year but the middle order remains a point of concern. GT's middle-order batter have not been reliable and are in fact second from bottom in the amount of sixes they have hit in the tournament so far. SRH's middle order on the other hand have consistently delivered with Heinrich Klaasen leading the way in the finishing role. The Hyderabad middle order have been some of the most brutal in the IPL this year, and often hold the team in a good position even if early wickets are taken.

The bowling battle will likely be what decides this encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium. While the Gujarat Titans pace attack has been solid all year, the Sunrisers look much more balanced with Sakib Hussain in the line up now. Not much extremely high scoring cricket has been played at the ground so far this year apart from the one time a side successfully chased 200+ but so far the average first innings score stands at 181 with fast bowlers finding assistance here much more than most other grounds in the tournament. An early wicket in the powerplay could very well be critical in this must win high-pressure match between two sides who are hitting great form at just the right time.

At the toss, Hyderabad have won and chose to bowl first.

Here's what the captains said at the toss:
