On May 12, MK Stalin, the leader of the DMK, labeled the NEET exam, which was canceled due to alleged paper leak irregularities, as a scam. He emphasized that admissions to MBBS programs should be based on 12th-grade results. In a post on X, Stalin pointed out that this year's NEET exam faced similar irregularities, leading to its cancellation and causing mental distress for millions of students. He accused the examination process of being riddled with fraud at every stage.
Call for Abolishing NEET
Stalin reiterated that the NEET exam is not just a scam; it is a scam in itself. He argued that this examination system negatively impacts students' futures, the state's medical infrastructure, and public health services each year, advocating for its abolition. He warned that rescheduling the exam would only create confusion and delay students' higher education plans. He proposed that MBBS seats should be allocated based on Plus Two (12th-grade) marks, as was done previously.
Appeal to the New Tamil Nadu Government
Stalin urged the newly formed Tamil Nadu government to maintain a strong stance against NEET and continue the legal efforts initiated by the previous Dravidian model government to secure exemptions for the state. He called on the new administration to clarify its position against the NEET exam and to adopt the legal measures aimed at obtaining relief from NEET for Tamil Nadu.
