New Delhi, 12 May : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Assam today to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new BJP-led NDA government at Khanapara Field in Guwahati, where Himanta Biswa Sarma will take oath for a second consecutive term as chief minister. The ceremony is scheduled for 11:00 AM and is expected to draw top NDA leaders, Union ministers, chief ministers, and dignitaries from across the country.
Modi’s itinerary in Assam
PM Modi arrived in Guwahati on Monday night and is staying at the state guest house at Koinadhora in the Khanapara area before attending today’s programme. He is expected to be the chief guest at the oath-taking event, which will be held at the Veterinary College field in Khanapara with elaborate security and seating arrangements for a large public gathering.
Ceremony details
The Assam BJP leadership has said the oath-taking function will begin at 11:00 AM and will mark the beginning of the third consecutive term of the BJP-NDA alliance in the state. Along with Sarma, four other MLAs are expected to take oath, including representatives from the BJP’s allies AGP and BPF.
Leaders expected
Several senior NDA figures have already reached Guwahati for the event, including Union ministers, chief ministers, and deputy chief ministers from BJP-ruled states and North East states.
