New Delhi: The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) sanitation workers extended their protest till May 14 and also warned the Haryana government that the strike will go indefinite if the demands are not met by the government.

Today is the 11th day of the protest, and to escalate the protest, the workers dumped piles of garbage outside the old MCG office and the Civil Hospital on Monday, May 11. The waste dump remained uncleared as all sanitation workers were on strike, and this will worsen the situation and cause inconvenience to the residents of the region.

The sanitation workers carried placards to highlight their demands and also raised slogans against the authorities.

President of Haryana Sarv Karmchari Sangh, Basant Kumar, confirmed that the protest would continue till May 14 and will also stage a large protest if the government fails to intervene.

“We appeal to the residents of Gurugram to support our agitation. Our demands are aimed at ensuring fair wages for sanitation workers and putting an end to the exploitation they have faced for years,” he added.

The workers said the protest is also being carried out for outsourced workers. Several workers employed by private agencies also extended their support to sanitation workers, and they want them to also refrain from their regular duties, such as waste collection and road sweeping.
