Patna: In a historic expansion of the NDA government, led by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Nitish Kumar’s son, Nishant Kumar, was sworn in as a minister today at the iconic Gandhi Maidan in Patna. The grand ceremony witnessed the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President Nitin Gadkari, and several other senior leaders.
Before taking the oath, Nishant Kumar was seen seeking blessings from his father, Nitish Kumar, by touching his feet—a moment that drew visible emotion and attention from onlookers.
Cabinet Expansion: Equal Representation from NDA Allies
A total of 32 legislators are being inducted into the cabinet today, with 16 ministers each from the BJP and JD(U), along with representatives from LJP(R) and HAM. Calls notifying minister prospectives of their swearing-in began early this morning, signaling the finalization of the expanded government team.
JD(U) Quota: A Mix of Veterans and Fresh Faces
The Janata Dal (United) quota includes both seasoned leaders and newcomers. Shweta Gupta is making her ministerial debut, while Damodar Rawat also joins the cabinet. Senior JD(U) figures from the previous Nitish Kumar government have largely been retained, ensuring continuity alongside fresh energy in the administration.
This cabinet reshuffle marks a significant phase in Bihar politics, reflecting both experience and renewal within the ruling NDA alliance.
