This government will be run under the leadership of BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma. Today, Guwahati will witness not only the swearing-in ceremony, but also the biggest show of power in Assamese politics. Great preparations have been made for this ceremony at Khanapara in Guwahati. Himanta Biswa Sarma will come to power for the second consecutive term as Chief Minister.

The BJP is projecting the swearing-in ceremony as a sign of its steadily strengthening grip in North-East India. The BJP-led NDA has maintained its political lead after returning to power for the third time in a row in the Assam assembly elections. The NDA performed well by winning 102 out of 126 seats in the state. The BJP alone strengthened its grip by winning 82 seats. With this resounding majority, Himanta Biswa Sarma will take charge as the Chief Minister of Assam for the second consecutive term. His popularity and skillful strategy have given the Aghadi this historic success. The BJP benefited from the fact that the Congress and the opposition alliance failed to mount an effective challenge in many quarters.

Four MLAs will take the oath of office along with Himanta

Himanta Biswa Sarma has made an important announcement in this regard. In the honorable presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, four senior leaders Rameshwar Teli, Atul Bora, Charan Boro and Ajanta Neog will take oath of office with him. Additionally, senior MLA Ranjit Das has been nominated as a candidate for the Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly. Congratulating all his colleagues, the Chief Minister expressed confidence that this new team will work together with full dedication to build a strong, developed and prosperous Assam.
