The Hardacres is returning to screens for an exciting second season, and fans don't have long to wait.
The new series of the Channel 5 period drama consists of six episodes and continues the family's rags-to-riches story as they navigate wealth and social change in the late 1800s.
The plot will follow the Hardacres as they head into 1895, continuing to try to find their feet after rising from poverty to wealth while also navigating various modern changes in daily life.
The Hardacres is not based on a true story, but is instead adapted from the best-selling 1970s novels, The Hardacre Family Saga (specifically Hardacre and Hardacre's Luck) by C.L. Skelton.
Claire Cooper and Liam McMahon are reprising their roles as Mary and Sam Hardacre alongside Julie Graham as Mary's mother, Ma, in the new season. There's also a new enemy for the family to contend with as Lady Imelda Hansen, the mother of their neighbour Emma, arrives.
Adam Little, Shannon Lavelle, and Zak Ford-Williams will also be back as the Hardacre children, Joe, Liza, and Harry, respectively, while other returning faces include Holly Sturton, Cathy Belton, Owen Roe, Ingrid Craigie, and Sarah Agha.
The show is created by writers Amy Roberts and Loren McLaughlan, who are also executive producers. Colin Callender, who founded the production company, Playground Entertainment, which is behind All Creatures Great and Small, is also a producer on the show.
With only days to go until The Hardacres returns to television screens, fans have expressed their excitement for new episodes, with one person writing on Instagram: "Can't wait for S2."
While a second stated: "4 more days until season 2......yee haa", while another chimed in: "Can't wait."
On Rotten Tomatoes, Hardacres fans have also been sharing their thoughts on season one, with one person writing wroting: "This is a light-hearted period series with great costumes, settings and actors. While it might seem a bit predictable, it's enjoyable to watch and fills the heart with warmth."
A second chimed in: "Two episodes in: slightly over-the-top period drama but loads of fun and atmosphere. The minutely detailed sets and costumes are excellent."
A third added, "This show was more fun than Downtown, and much less stressful than, say, Unforgotten. So, it was a nice break from both. All in all, a very nice way to spend a few hours in front of the old telly. I'd like to see another season of this one day."
The Hardacres is set to return on Thursday 14 May at 9pm on 5.
