Following an incident during the IPL 2026 clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Mumbai Indians at Raipur, Tim David has been fined 30 percent of his match fee and given two demerit points.
The Australian was captured making an obscene middle-finger gesture while at the RCB dugout during a high-intensity clash on Sunday. The video soon became a sensation on social media and one of the most discussed incidents after the match.
The moment occurred when Royal Challengers Bengaluru edged out Mumbai Indians by two wickets in the last over to complete a thriller. While a close encounter grabbed headlines for a dramatic end, Tim David's gesture in the dugout was later brought under disciplinary action.
Reports indicate that the IPL officials considered David to have violated the code of conduct and accordingly fined him and gave him two demerit points.

The Australian could reportedly be seen making the gesture while at the RCB dressing area during a high-pressure moment in the match, the video widely shared on social media, prompting mixed reactions from the fans. Tim David, who earlier represented the Mumbai Indians team, was at the RCB dugout in Raipur.
Meanwhile, the RCB completed a nail-biting two-wicket victory against the MI and further cemented their spot in the IPL 2026 playoff picture.
Andy Flower Also Penalised After Heated Exchange
The RCB head coach Andy Flower too was punished after the match. The former Zimbabwe batter was fined 15 percent of his match fee for using profane language during a verbal exchange with the fourth umpire.
This came after a controversy involving the relay catch at the boundary rope when fielders Naman Dhir and Tilak Varma had tried to save the ball during an intense encounter, but whether the duo had touched the boundary while fielding the ball could not be immediately confirmed. The replays had to be checked, and on confirming it as legal, Flower was spotted arguing with the fourth umpire and later charged under Article 2.3 of the IPL Code of Conduct.
