Michael van Gerwen aims brutal dig at Premier League Darts bosses after Luke Littler snub

Michael van Gerwen has told Premier League Darts bosses he doesn't 'give a f***' about the competition ahead of the next round of matches. The Dutchman instead had his full concentration on the Austrian Open, which took place over the weekend.

The tournament was snubbed by the reigning world champion, Luke Littler, who decided not to take part as he manages his schedule during a busy part of the year. He also pulled out of the European Darts Grand Prix last month due to scheduling reasons.

Despite the busy period, Van Gerwen did take part in the tournament. After beating Krzysztof Ratajski in his first match of the tournament on Saturday, he said, "Krzysztof is in really good form and playing good darts and then you have to do something special.

"That is exactly what I did today. I am playing some good darts lately. In the last two weeks I have picked up a good feeling and good momentum.

"But you have to show it in the games. I did that today and everyone knows what I am capable of.

"My main focus is this tournament, simple as that. What happens next Thursday I don't really give a f***.

"For me, what is important is tomorrow. Everyone knows that. I didn't have a good year last year, everyone knows that.

"So, on the ProTour ranking and European Tour ranking I have to smash them. For me, tomorrow is the most important day of the year.

"What we are going to have afterwards, let's see. I don't care."

The 37-year-old took on Rob Cross on Sunday, but was on the end of a 4-6 defeat. Josh Rock went on to win the title, defeating Kevin Doets 8-6 in the final, and taking home the £35,000 prize money.

Despite his comments, Van Gerwen's concentration will now be back on the Premier League Darts on Thursday. He will take on Gerwyn Price, before playing his final round of games in Sheffield on May 31st.
