Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone on Monday appointed former IRS officer Niraj Bansal as CEO-Ports with effect from June 1, replacing Pranav Choudhary, who will step down at the end of May to pursue opportunities outside the Adani Group.
The company disclosed the senior management changes in a regulatory filing on Monday.
Bansal, who joined the Adani Group in October 2022, currently serves as CEO – New Port Project Development, Maharashtra. He earlier headed Hazira Port and previously served as Deputy Chairman and Chairman-in-charge of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust between 2014 and 2019.
During his tenure at JNPT, the port handled a record 66 million metric tonnes of cargo in FY18, according to the filing. Before joining the Adani Group, Bansal served for more than 27 years in the Indian Revenue Service and retired voluntarily as Commissioner of Income Tax, the Adani Group company said in a statement.
The company said Choudhary will cease to be CEO-Ports from May 31.
