'Summer Camp 2026' has started in Dhamtari. Children and youth will be given training in various sports including football, kabaddi, yoga, karate and self-defense for 30 days at 36 centres. There is also emphasis on personality development and fitness in the camp.
Raipur. “Summer Camp 2026” has started in Dhamtari district of Chhattisgarh to hone the sports talent of children and youth. This 30-day camp, organized with the joint efforts of the district administration and sports department, will run from May 9 to June 8. The aim of the camp is not only to provide sports training but also to make children's summer vacation creative and useful.

In this summer camp, along with technical knowledge of sports, children are also being given training in personality development, discipline and health awareness. Through the camp, youth are being motivated to become drug free and adopt a positive lifestyle.
Sports training camps will run for 30 days, 36 centers set up in the district
This year, expanding the scope of summer camps, a total of 36 centers have been set up in urban and rural areas of Dhamtari district. With the help of various sports associations, clubs and freedom physical training institutions, children are being given the opportunity to choose sports as per their interest. Many types of sports are included in the camp. Field sports include football, kabaddi, athletics, volleyball, basketball and rugby. Under martial arts, training is being given in Karate, Judo, Taekwondo, Boxing and Kudo. Apart from this, traditional and other sports like yoga, chess, wrestling, archery, skating and weightlifting have also been included in the summer camp.
Children are getting special training under the supervision of experienced trainers.
The biggest feature of summer camps is the presence of experienced instructors. Along with teaching the children the nuances of the game, the coaches are also developing qualities like fitness, team spirit, discipline and leadership abilities. The main objective of these camps is to identify sports talents from rural and urban areas, so that in future they can be prepared for sports academies and national level competitions.
Special focus on yoga and self defense
Keeping in view the needs of today's times, special priority has been given to yoga and self-defense training in the camp. Along with teaching children self-defense skills, emphasis is also being laid on making them mental concentration and health conscious. Efforts are being made to develop self-confidence and mental strength in children through martial arts and yoga.
Many organizations are providing support, administration has given instructions for necessary facilities.
Many reputed institutions of the district are participating in this big event. These mainly include SAGES Charra, Shaurya Sports Club Kundel, Art Center Itwari Bazaar, Municipal Corporation Sports Academy and District Weightlifting, Athletics, Kudo and Karate Association. The district administration has given instructions to ensure availability of sports material and necessary basic facilities in all the centres, so that children can get training in a better environment.
