Kathmandu. Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police has today filed a charge sheet against 22 people including former Urban Development Minister Vikram Pandey for hacking the e-bidding software of the Electricity Department and grabbing the tender.
According to the District Government Advocate Office of Kathmandu, 13 accused have been arrested. Nine are still absconding. Former minister Pandey is also among the arrested accused.
Statements of Pandey and others will be recorded in Kathmandu District Court from today. After the statement is recorded, the debate on judicial custody will begin. Police claim that the accused also traded currencies like Bitcoin.
The charge sheet demands that the accused be punished for being involved in the trading of Bitcoin currency in an organized manner. Pandey is a resident of Bharatpur in Chitwan. He has been an MP from Rashtriya Prajatantra Party (RPRPA). He also has Kalika Construction construction company.
According to the conclusion of the investigation, the accused made unauthorized access and altered the documents to the financial proposal. Pandey’s involvement has been claimed to be confirmed on the basis of various evidences including polygraph test of one accused Diwakar Deuja.
It has been claimed in the charge sheet that in exchange for this work, money was also transacted through cryptocurrency. This also caused loss to the state.
