The new government took six key decisions in its first cabinet meeting. Newly appointed ministers, including Agnimitra Paul, Nisith Pramanik and Dilip Ghosh, were present at the meeting.
“We have given approval for land transfer to the BSF for fencing-related work. Already, 90% of the land has been kept ready,” Adhikari said.
The Chief Minister assured that all land required by the BSF would be provided within 45 days to help prevent illegal infiltration. He said the Land Department had already begun work on the process.
“Land transfer will be given priority and the state government has approved the process of handing over the required land to the BSF. The Chief Secretary and the Land & Land Reforms Department have been directed to complete the process within 45 days,” he said.
“The Census process will be started immediately and it will help in women’s reservation. The previous government had attempted to stop the Census,” Adhikari claimed.
The West Bengal government has also officially decided to implement the Ayushman Bharat scheme. “The Health Secretary and advisors to the Chief Minister’s Office have been directed to complete the necessary agreement with the Union Health Ministry at the earliest,” Adhikari said.
He added that central government schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, crop insurance schemes, PM SHRI Schools, PM Vishwakarma, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, will be implemented in the state. District Magistrates have been instructed to expedite the forwarding of applications to the concerned Union Ministries.
Adhikari also said a fact-finding committee would be formed in the Abhaya case and action would be taken against corruption.
“No running social schemes will be stopped,” Adhikari said. “The new government will move towards a paperless office system and portals will be updated. All DBT transfers will be activated in a transparent manner.”

“As part of administrative reforms, IAS officers in the state will now participate in Central Government training programmes in line with practices followed in other states,” he said. “The government has also decided to fully align West Bengal with the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).”
Adhikari also announced a five-year relaxation in the age limit for candidates who had applied in 2015, citing delays in the recruitment process under the previous government.
