The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pulled off a thrilling two-wicket victory against the Mumbai Indians (MI) in a nail-biting finish during Match 54 of the 2026 Indian Premier League. This win was crucial for the points table, catapulting the defending champions to the top, while MI now finds themselves out of the playoff race. 

After being asked to bat first, MI managed to score 166 runs in their 20 overs. Naman Dhir and Tilak Varma made significant contributions with scores of 47 and 57, respectively, but the rest of the batting lineup struggled against Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The seamer was in fine form, claiming four wickets for just 23 runs. 

In response, RCB clinched the win on the very last ball, thanks to Rasikh Salam Dar who sprinted for two runs to secure the victory. Krunal Pandya was the standout performer in the chase, battling through cramps and exhaustion to score a brilliant 73 off 46 balls, keeping RCB in the game even after losing key players like Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar early on.

As has been the trend this IPL season, the match between RCB and MI also saw players from both teams achieving personal milestones in their T20 and IPL careers.
