New Delhi. Pakistan’s attempt to play the role of mediator between the ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran now appears to be causing a major problem for it. According to reports, this diplomatic stance and Pakistan’s position on regional issues have soured its relations with the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

According to a report, the UAE has abruptly deported thousands of Pakistani workers, particularly those belonging to the Shia community, in recent weeks. In many cases, these workers were allegedly detained and later deported without a clear reason.

The report also claims that the UAE is upset that Pakistan has not taken the required firm stance on recent regional events and disputes to Iran. This dissatisfaction is believed to be the reason behind this major decision. However, the UAE has not issued any official statement on the matter, and Pakistan has also denied the allegations of mass deportation.

Local community organizations say these actions have had the greatest impact on the Pakistani Shia community, which has religious and cultural ties to Iran. It is estimated that thousands of families have been affected since mid-April.

This development could have a significant impact on Pakistan’s economy. Over two million Pakistani workers live in the UAE, sending billions of dollars in remittances to their country each year. Last year alone, this figure exceeded $8 billion, providing a significant boost to Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves.

Meanwhile, financial tensions between Pakistan and the UAE have also escalated. According to reports, the UAE withdrew a $3.5 billion rollover loan from Pakistan, forcing Pakistan to adjust its economic strategy.

On the other hand, the United States is also becoming increasingly active in regional politics. US President Donald Trump has indicated that if negotiations with Iran fail, the maritime security operation Project Freedom Plus could be expanded.

Overall, Pakistan’s diplomatic moves now appear to pose new challenges for it on both economic and political fronts, while its relations with the Gulf countries are becoming more complex than ever.
