Muthupettai Village: As the newly elected Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and actor Vijay Thalapathy took over the reins of the state, there is a village which has become the center of discussion. The name of the village is- Muthupettai. This village is situated in Thiruvar district and away from the film world, it is the ancestral village of Thalapathy.
Till now, only names like Chennai, Oonty and Mahabalipuram were included in the tourism list of South India, but with Vijay’s victory, Muthupettai has now become the new tourist place. The mangrove-rich Muthupettai Lagoon in Tiruvarur district has always been a fascinating tourist place for tourists, wildlife lovers, bird lovers and environmentalists.
This lake is formed by combining seven rivers
The number of tourists coming here is increasing year by year. In view of the increasing tourists, tourism facilities have been expanded at a cost of Rs 2 crore to make the lagoon more attractive. This lake is formed by the confluence of seven rivers – Korair, Nasuviniyar, Pattuwanachi, Baminiyar, Maraka Korair, Valavanar and Thandakurichiyar. Finfish, prawn and crab are seen in large quantities here.
Many types of birds exist
Sitting in the lap of natural heritage, the atmosphere in Muthupettai becomes calm and peaceful with the chirping of birds. Birds like painted storks, terns, shorebirds, flamingos and gray herons are present here. Being untouched by travelers till now, it has a very peaceful atmosphere and slow life. These migratory birds are visible in the month of November.
Far away from the fast life of the city, the fishing boats in the calm pond, the pleasant noise of birds and the breeze create a relaxing feeling in the atmosphere. Backpackers coming here can take a motorboat trip to Thalaimunnai. Apart from this, one can stroll on the 162 meter long road made of wood. South India is also known for its ancient and very beautiful temples, you can visit the temples in this village also.
How to reach Muttupettai
If you choose the air route, you will first have to reach Tiruchirappalli International Airport. Muthupettai is 116 kilometers from here, which is approximately a two and a half to three hour drive. Beautiful valleys on the way will make your journey picturesque and easy. You won’t even know when you will reach this charming village while driving.
On the other hand, if you opt for rail, Muthupettai has its own railway station, which is located on the Karaikodi–Thiruvarur–Mayiladuthurai broad gauge railway line. Train travel can be a convenient and direct option for visitors. The code of the railway station is- MTT. If you come by bus, you have to reach Chennai first and the distance from Chennai to Muttupettai is 381 kilometers, which takes about 8.5 hours by bus.
