Played an important role in SIR, now becomes Suvendu’s advisor; Who is Subrata Gupta?

Retired IAS officer Subrata Gupta has been made the advisor to West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari. On May 7 itself, the Election Commission had relieved Gupta from the post of special observer. On May 9, Suvendu Adhikari took oath as CM. Five other ministers also took oath along with him. Shortly after this, an order was issued to make Subrata Pathak the advisor to the CM.

 

From 2007 to 2011, Subrata Gupta became the Executive Director and later Managing Director of West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation Limited. However, in the meantime there was a demonstration against Tata Motors in Singur. The result was that the Nano plant had to be shifted from Bengal to Gujarat. Subrata Gupta has also been DM of Burdwan and Jalpaiguri. It is said that Suvendu Adhikari had met him after the election results. The proposal to become an advisor was made to him.

 

 

The Election Commission had made Subrata Gupta a special role observer during the SIR. He has replaced Alapan Bandyopadhyay and HK Dwivedi, who resigned from the post of Chief Advisor to Mamata Banerjee on May 5.

 

2017 batch IAS officer Shantanu Bala has been made private secretary to Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. Earlier, Shantanu Gupta was the Additional District Magistrate of South 24 Parganas district. Shantanu Bala will replace Mamata Banerjee’s personal secretary Gautam Sanyal.

The new Suvendu Adhikari government of West Bengal has started making administrative changes only after taking oath. 46 officers who worked as private secretaries and special duty officers of the minister in the previous government have been given new responsibilities. At the same time, 16 officers of the Chief Minister’s Office have also been reshuffled.
