“…stuck on the mountain”, the thrilling experience of filming Swayambhu; The director told ‘that’ story

Swayambhu Director Recollects: ‘Ever since the teaser of Swayambhu was released, the film has become one of Nikhil Siddharth’s most awaited films, especially after the success of ‘Kartikeya 2’. The teaser was widely appreciated for its cinematic approach, showing glimpses of grandeur, grand scale and a powerful storyline. Amid growing excitement about the film, the first song ‘Ra Ra Dheewara’ has also become a big hit.

Filming in difficult areas and remote forests

Being a mega project, the film was shot in real locations in difficult areas and remote forests. Speaking about this, director Bharat Krishnamachari said, “For the live-action sequences, we chose the Maredumilli forests near Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh. This is the area where the forest sequences in ‘Pushpa’ were shot. But we specifically chose untouched locations that had never been shot before.”

Stuck on the mountain

He added, “Reaching the place was a big adventure in itself. We had to travel by jeep for about 2 to 2.5 hours to reach the top of the mountain. During one such schedule, it started raining suddenly and some of our team members were stuck on the mountain for almost a day or two without the necessary equipment.” “Interestingly, our team was one of the first to get permission to shoot at that beautiful and untouched location,” he said.

A story based on the backdrop of the Golden Age

The teaser of ‘Swayambhu’ shows the story set against the backdrop of India’s glorious golden age, full of heritage, valor and cultural significance. Central to the plot is the powerful symbol of ‘Sengol’, which suggests a story of tradition and honour. Nikhil Siddharth is seen in a very impressive and energetic avatar in the film, while the teaser is full of grand visuals, dark drama and tremendous action.

The shooting lasted for 170 days

Many of the biggest technicians and creative talents of the industry have come together for ‘Swayambhu’. This movie is directed by Bharat Krishnamachari. The music of the film is by Ravi Basrur, who is famous for ‘KGF’ and ‘Saalar’. The stunning visuals are photographed by KK Senthil Kumar, who has worked in films like ‘Baahubali’ and ‘RRR’. Editing is done by Tammiraju who has been associated with ‘Baahubali’. The project is considered to be one of the most ambitious films in recent times due to the shooting that lasted for over 170 days.

‘Swayambhu’ is produced by Bhuvan and Srikar under the banner of Pixel Studios. A grand tribute to India’s rich history and eternal glory, the film is slated for a worldwide release in Summer 2026.
