Tezzbuzz Desk- The politics of West Bengal is going to take a historic turn on Saturday. On the occasion of 25th Baishakh and the 165th birth anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, the swearing-in ceremony of the first government of the Bharatiya Janata Party will be held at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata. BJP legislature party leader Subhendu Adhikari will take the oath of office and secrecy as the first BJP Chief Minister of the state.
This will be the first time that the BJP government is being formed in West Bengal and the swearing-in ceremony of a Chief Minister will be held at the historic Brigade Parade Ground in the capital Kolkata. To make this occasion grand and culturally special, glimpses of Bengali tradition and culture will also be shown on the stage.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be present at the ceremony. Apart from this, Chief Ministers, Union Ministers, MPs, MLAs and senior leaders of 21 states ruled by BJP and NDA are likely to attend. In view of the huge crowd of party workers and supporters, extensive preparations have been made for the program.
Kolkata Police has strengthened the security system at an unprecedented level. According to police sources, the Brigade Parade Ground has been divided into about 35 sectors. Special blocks have been formed by combining several sectors, where one IPS officer will be responsible for security. Kolkata Police Commissioner Ajay Nanda himself will monitor the security of the entire event.
Special arrangements have been made in the starting blocks of the ground for VVIP guests. According to sources, about 40 VVIP guests may attend the function, for whose security additional security forces will be deployed. Keeping in mind the possible crowd of lakhs of BJP supporters, surveillance has been increased across the city. Police and security agencies will keep a watch from the high buildings located around the Brigade Ground. Drone cameras will also be used to keep an eye on VVIP movement and city security.
Special traffic control has been imposed in Kolkata in view of the swearing-in ceremony. There will be a ban on movement of goods vehicles from 4 am to 8 pm on Saturday. However, vehicles connected to essential services have been exempted. Vehicles carrying LPG, CNG, petroleum products, oxygen, medicines, vegetables, milk, fruits and fish will be allowed.
Political analysts believe that this ceremony can symbolize not just a change of power but also the beginning of a new phase in the politics of West Bengal.
