CBSE announces National Automobile Olympiad 2026 for class 6th-12th, notice issued, application started

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has started the National Automobile Olympiad (NAO 2026). Which is going to be organized by CBSE in collaboration with Automotive Skill Development Council (ASDC). Its objective is to promote automatic automotive skills among students across the country. This Olympiad gives schools an opportunity to involve their students in a healthy competition. So that their practical understanding and industry exposure can be promoted.

CBSE has issued a notification to this. Olympiads include theoretical assessments, hands-on activities and problem-solving tasks. Through this, students can connect classroom learning with real world applications. It provides an opportunity to interact with industry experts, explore new automotive technologies and learn about different career opportunities in the sector.

Who and how to apply?

Schools have been requested to encourage their students to participate in this Olympiad in large numbers. The application process has just started. NAO portal Schools or students can register by visiting 30th June 2026.

The school will have to do online institutional registration. After which all the students registered through the school will get the link of the test on their registered email. Students can also do self-registration by visiting the Olympiad web page. After this the test link will be sent to their registered email ID. There will be no fee for application. Students from class 6th to 12th can register.

Total 4 steps will be involved

The Olympiad will consist of a total of four phases. Registration will take place in the first phase. The second phase will be a qualifying round, in which online MCQ test will be taken. In this, the automotive knowledge of the students will be checked. Its third event will be held in April-July. The phase will be of regional round. The last phase will be the national level competition, which can be held in November-December. You students will be allowed to participate in Round 2 of this competition.

Important things to NAO 2026

This time the focus of NAO will be on areas like Electric Vehicle, Robotics and Eye, Mechatronics and Data Analysis and Sustainable Mobility. The Olympiad will be organized in three groups. Students from classes 6 to 8 will be included in the first group. In the second group, students from class 9th to 10th and in the third group, students from class 11th and 12th will be included.
